Kefalonia is the largest and most mountainous of the Ionian Islands with a population of 34,000 inhabitants.The island offers beautiful beaches, with 11 of those awarded the blue flag. The island has many visitors each year and increased after the movie 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin', which was shot on the island in 2001. The island is characterized by picturesque villages with many visitors, stunning beaches, taverns and cafes, archeological sites, caves and green.
